An RFID access control system is a security management system based on radio frequency identification technology, designed to control and manage personnel access to specific areas. The system achieves contactless access control by identifying users carrying RFID tags and is widely used in enterprises, schools, hospitals, and other locations.
Abstract: This paper presents a design scheme that combines embedded technology with biometric technology to implement a RFID access control system based on Raspberry PI. This system adopted the open-source OpenCV and Dlib to develop the face feature extraction and authentication module. This research work has presented the hardware and software of the designed and implementation of a 3-factor authentication access control system based on RFID, fingerprint and generated token/code. This article proposes a secure solution based on an RFID card for physical biometric access‐control applications. The existing RFID-based access control systems provide only passive communication, and the authentication process is fragile and vulnerable to malicious hacking because the user information is stored by the reader. Therefore, in this study, we designed and implemented an access control system that uses the NFC-based active authentication technique.
Table 1 summarizes the proposed 6-step generic framework for the implementation of an RFID system. The implementation of RFID solutions is a complex task that involves both technical and human factors.
